Last summer, I did an internship in Dublin with a record label called Heresy Records. A big part of this internship involved promoting one of their artists and her EP that was released that summer. I ran both Facebook and Twitter campaigns that targeted individuals in the U.S. and U.K. that could be fans of Baby Raptors, considering demographics like age, interests, and specific geographic locations.
In addition to their music, they introduced the world’s first augmented reality album that summer. Users who downloaded the Baby Raptors app could open the app, put their phone in front of the vinyl or digital album cover, and a baby raptor would appear (similar to Pokemon Go). This made the marketing for this album even more fun!
And of course, record labels usually represent more than one artist. Miss Velvet and The Blue Wolf went on tour right as my internship was ending, but I still got to do a little promotion for them as well.
